Our Starter:
Debbie created her sourdough starter in 1998! It is a New York based fermented culture kept alive all of these years with just flour and water.
General Info found online:
Sourdough bread has been around for thousands of years. It is the oldest type of leavened bread (bread that rises due to yeast or other ingredients) on record.
It has a lower glycemic index and glycemic load than other breads that are not fermented.
Sourdough bread may be easier to digest than other breads for some people. According to some studies, sourdough bread acts as a prebiotic, which means that the fiber in the bread helps feed the "good" bacteria in your intestines. These bacteria are important for maintaining a stable, healthy digestive system.
Sourdough is also lower in gluten than other forms of bread. It appears that the acid in the bread degrades gluten. As a result, people with gluten intolerance may find that sourdough is easier on their stomachs.
The lactic acid bacteria in sourdough bread are responsible for increased antioxidants compared to other types of bread.

We find that storing it on the counter in the package it came in, aluminum foil (best) or any airtight container works. Consume within 3-4 days, otherwise freeze it. But you'll finish it before then :)

Yes! Freezing is a great way to store your dough designs.
Just leave it on the counter. You can also heat it up in a warm oven. 300°F for 15 minutes should do the trick.
At this time, we are working to get our products into local stores.
